messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client

I am trying to import my email messages from Outlook 2007 to Windows Mail
and am getting "Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client"... this
while using the import feature from the file menu and selecting "Outlook" in
the import from field.
I have searched in vain for a useful solution ... would appreciate any help
you can give

Outlook is installed & configured on the same PC?

Check out this knowledge base article from MS

'MAPI error messages when you import or export messages in Outlook
Express' (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179637)
might be the cause and solution to your problem
