logon to pop3?
For the first time ever I get a message box asking me to log on to pop 3
before I can send e-mail. It wants a user name and password. To the best of
my knowledge I have never set one up. I tried any names and passwords used on
the computer but none are what it wants. Why is it doing this now? How do I
get past it? I have work related e-mails in my out box that need to go....
Thanks in advance for your help...

You did have a password and Username for the POP3 email account, or you
could not have set it up initially.

You need to enter those details at the Tools menu>accounts>select your
account>properties button>Server tab>apply>OK.

Your mail provider will be able to tell you your password if you provide
them with your email address.

Who is your mail provider?

What is the bit beyond the @ in your email address ONLY !! ?

The usual cause of lost or repeated requests for logon details is caused by
anti-virus programs that are set to scan your mail.
That same anti-virus program may have worked without problem for some time,
but a particular update can foul it up, it is best to disable email scanning
by any 3rd party program.

If you get any error message when you try to send or receive, please copy
and paste that unedited error to your reply prior to doing the below.

Are you sure that you are using the correct logon information? If you are
then try removing the account, then after closing and reopening WM, then
rebuild the account.

Remember that passwords are CaSe senSitiVe, try logging on to your account
here to confirm that the user credentials that you are using are correct?

Are you sure you have the correct password? Test it by logging in to
Comcast's webmail.

Also, which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems
with Windows Mail over time.

Check all your settings compared to those here:
http://www.comcast.com/Customers/FAQ...s.ashx?Id=2288

From point 10 onwards.
Especially the port numbers to use for sending, point 14
