Having problems connecting to email server
I set up my windows mail so that I can get my work email at home. It worked
fine for several weeks. Now I get the following error message anytime I try
to send mail or check for new messages:

Subject 'Re: Special Needs Application', Account: 'campberachah.org',
Server: 'campberachah.org', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 AUTH LOGIN
PLAIN', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number:
0x800CCC7D

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'campberachah.org',
Server: 'campberachah.org', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): Yes,
Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

These messages started when I tried to add my comcast.net account as well. I
have since deleted the comcast account, but the messages still occur.
Sometimes late at night the program will connect and download my messages,
but it fails 99% of the time.

HELP!

Re: Having problems connecting to email server
1a. If your anti-virus application is configured to scan incoming/outgoing
mail, disable it as it may be causing the problem.

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm

1b. Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer
(including a free-trial that came preinstall when you bought it)?

2a. Are you absolutely, positively certain that the incoming and outgoing
mailservers are CAMPBERACHAH.ORG (vs MAIL.CAMPBERACHAH.ORG or
INCOMING.CAMPBERACHAH.ORG & OUTGOING.CAMPBERACHAH.ORG)?

2b. Are you absolutely, positively certain that you're supposed to use
Incoming Port 110 and Outgoing Port 25 with SSL enabled? Contact
CAMPBERACHAH.ORG about this.

3. If Comcast is your brand-new ISP, Comcast might be blocking Ports 110
(incoming mail server) and 25 (outgoing mail server). Contact Comcast about
this.

4. If still no joy, the problem might be a temporary one on
CAMPBERACHAH.ORG's end.

Re: Having problems connecting to email server
i will check the antivirus software. I use Webroot, not Norton.

The 25/110 ports were working fine til I tried to access comcast mail. Now
it only works intermittantly.

I'll check with our computer person at work and see if there is something I
need to change for remote email access.

thanks.

Re: Having problems connecting to email server
If you really mean "Outlook" you are in the wrong newsgroup.
The newsgroup to which you posted is for the Windows Mail program.
You are more likely to find Outlook experts in the Outlook newsgroup.
If you meant Windows Mail, read on:
Your email address @q.com indicates a Hotmail-type address issued
by Qwest. You can set that up in Windows Mail by following these
instructions:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog...33!49799.entry
Use port 587 rather than port 25 for the SMTP server.

Re: Having problems connecting to email server
It's not an antivirus issue. You must disable the SSL option.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
then uncheck the SSL option (two places).
