Notifier

I think what I would like to see most for Windows Mail is a notifier. It
would be very nice to be notified when receiving new mail.

When new mail is received, there is a sound, and a notice in
the lower right portion of the status bar.
What more do you need?

Well, you can put a gadget on the sidebar, but it has issues with
performance.

My notice icon on the status bar repeatedly tells me I have new mail when I
don't. Even when I delete my mail and empty the deleted items and start my
mail program again and again it's still there with the same message, "You
have new email". The only way I can get rid of the icon is to reboot. Why?
and What do I need to do to get rid of this annoying icon?

Maybe you have a message rule to set deleted mail as read?

Simply right click any single message in the inbox>mark as unread>select the
message to read it and the Icon should go away.
