no contacts toolbar

My Windows Mail seems defective. "Help" tells me that to add new
contacts, I should click on something on the contacts toolbar. However,
I don't seem to have a contacts toolbar. I have tried right-clicking on
the toolbar (that shows create mail, reply, etc) and trying to customize
it but I don't ever get icons for adding a new contact or organizing
contacts, etc

Have you opened the "Contacts" first?
There you will find the Contacts Tool Bar.

open the contacts folder>right click in a blank area>choose customise this
folder>in the drop down box select 'contacts'>apply/ok

Thanks Richard! Actually, when I open contacts, I don't get a contacts
toolbar, I get the top toolbar says: file, edit, view, tools, help and
it essentially is dealing with folders and then below that there is a
toolbar that has only: organize, views, burn. The only way I can find
to add a contact, for example, is to open a new email message and put
the address in the "to" field.

Richard, not if the Folder has a different view type set, see my other post
in this thread and change yours to document type folder, to test it, then
change it back to Contacts.

Thanks very much! Mac: I finally figured out where you meant and made
the change and it seems to have worked. I also realized - too late -
that there were similar threads listed and that they had this advice so

I am brand new, and what I found was to 'create mail', TOOLS, select
recipients, add new contact(s). MY problem is not being able to create my
own filing folders (to move replies or sent emails to specifically named [by
me] folders.
