Winmail could not be started.????
Hello everybody,

Since a day or two I keep getting an errormessage or two when starting
Windows Vista Mail.

First I get the errormessage: "Contacts failed to load". When clicking "OK",
I get another one: "Winmail could not be started. Application unabled to
initialize contacts. You are out of memory or your hard disk is full.
0x8000ffff"
Then the final message comes: "MSOE.DLL could not be initialized"

I wonder what's going on? I just set up a pop account I created from
gawab.com. Everything seemed to be working fine for about a week. Then Vista
downloaded and installed a bunch of updates (about 70) and then winmail
stopped working.

Anybody else had this problem and possibly has found a cure?

Please, help me out here

RE: Winmail could not be started.????
Update:

Am using Avira AntiVir Personal Edition (Free) and can't find options to
turn off the e-mail scanning.... However, I remember installing it and
turning off scanning of e-mail. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Avira, and I don't think any of the other
regular responders here are either.
I suggest you uninstall it, then reinstall, but watch for an option for 'custom'
install. Many antivirus products will allow you to unselect certain modules
during the install process.
