organize contacts
I have 118 contacts in my contact folder and only need to have quick access
to half of them for what I do every day. In the contacts folder I created two
new folders and named them regular and extra. Then I sorted my contacts all
into these two folders so when I click on the contacts icon all I see is my
two folders. If I try to forward an email now I still will not see my folders
listed in the To: box and that is what a lot of people are complaining
about. What I have found is if I go to the properties of the extra folder and
change it to hidden and all sub folders and files that the contacts in this
folder will not show in the To: box any more.
By changing from hidden to not hidden you can change which group of contacts
you see. I realize this is not perfect but it is something that might help
some people

Hello JimAC,

Instead of using folders to separate your contacts, you can use
"Contact Groups" instead. This way they show up as a group instead of
separate contacts in the "To:" box. This tutorial will show you how
create and different ways to use them.

Hope this helps you,

Re: organize contacts
That is exactly what I and a lot of other people dont want to do. I never
send to the same set of people every time. In OE i created another folder
called extra and when I hit To: and the contacts opened up you could see the
folder i created in with the contacts and if i clicked on it then a whole new
set of extra contacts opened .
In windows mail you cant do this and I am playing with live mail right now
and dont seem to be able to make it happen there either.
The goal here is to not have 118 contacts to see every time you forward in
case you really understand win mail....
Creat a folder in contacts (easy) now make it show when you click To: .
If you can make this happen the problem is solved...

Re: organize contacts
Sounds like you should divide your contacts into smaller groups.
In Windows Live Mail you can place a group on the To line, and
(unlike WM) you can expand that group into individual contacts,
thus allowing you to whittle down the group for that message.

Re: organize contacts
As far as I know, Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail don't
recognize folders, only groups.

Re: organize contacts
You can create the folders, but WM will not show them when you click on To:,
CC: or BCC:

However, you can do it bassackwards if you have folders... open your
Contact folder, open your sub-folder, select your recipient(s), right-click,
select Action - Send Email
