Send / Receive Errors
I just recovered my Vista machine. Now when I do a send/receive I get an error:

Some errors ocurred while processing requested task. Please review list of
errors below.

There are no errors listed.

If I do a send or receive seperately they both work. I have removed and
added my email account with no luck.

Any ideas?

That is often due to interference from an antivirus program. What if any
antivirus programs do you have, and have you ever had a Norton or
McAfee antivirus program on that computer, even if it was one of the
free trial versions that often come already installed on new computers?

RE: Send / Receive Errors
Thanks Robert. I previously had Symantec AntiVirus but it became
"incompatible" with Vista. I removed it and installed AVG until I can get an
up to date version of Symantec.

I'll hold tight with further trouble shooting until I replace the antivirus.

Thanks again.

Re: Send / Receive Errors
When you uninstall Symantec's Norton security programs they tend to
leave a lot of troublesome debris behind. You need to follow up with
their debris removal tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support...05033108162039

Also, chances are you installed AVG using its default install option.
If so, uninstall it, then reinstall, but select custom install, which then
allows you to unselect its problematic email scanning module.

I suggest that you never install anything from Norton, although Corporate
Symantec programs appear to be okay.

Re: Send / Receive Errors
Thanks Gary. I was using Corporate Edition 10.1. Any idea what Year this
product falls into? Norton has a different removal tool for each year. Once
I have that I will remove everything and start again as everyone has advised.

Re: Send / Receive Errors
The removal tool only works for consumer editions, not for corporate editions.
So, you can skip that part of my recommendations

If that problem continues, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail:

Re: Send / Receive Errors

I have Windows Vista and have had no problems with WinMail until just
recently. My "sent mail" is being held in my outbox, some I can delete,
others I cannot. How can I correct this problem? Thank you.

This is often caused by interference from an antivirus program, although
slowly. What if any antivirus programs do you have, and have you ever
had a Norton or McAfee antivirus program on that computer, even one
of the trial versions that often come already installed on new computers?

For the send part of your problems, download and install this hotfix,
with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for 32-bit versions first.
The Vista SP1 update includes this hotfix and more, but takes longer
to install.

If the hotfix or update don't delete the problem messages, they should
at least make it possible for you to do this.

If you still have a receive error after doing this, we'll need more
information
on it to help with it. For example, right click on the error message and
copy all of it to your next message.

Re: Send / Receive Errors
OK. I removed Symantec Corporate Edition 10.1.
I then removed AVG 8 - Still no change. Error ocurred even with NO antivirus
software installed.

Installed Smanterc Corporate Edition 10.2 (Vista Compatible). Still get error.
