lost my spell check

Have just downloaded the latest version of Firefox and tried to install the
English (British) language pack, but to no avail. Now I've lost my spell
check capacity in email. Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received.

For which email program? Windows Mail doesn't offer an English
(British) language pack. Windows Live Mail does, but it's hidden well
enough that you'll have to ask for the details in newsgroup:

I don't understand what your reference to Firefox means.
Firefox is a browser. Windows Mail is an email program.
Windows Mail never had and never will have a UK spelling
dictionary.
