Re: Mail Detalis
My Details window doesn't stay open long enough to read it, but isn't
there a pushpin you can click on?

Re: Mail Detalis
I've had the same problem ever since i started using vista, no matter what
you do you can't keep the details pane hidden, it is always there the next
time you open windows mail.

Re: Mail Detalis
Did you try clicking on the pushpin?
That should toggle between Details staying open and not staying open.

Re: Mail Detalis
all the push pin seems to do it make details stay close until you close
windows mail, the next time you open it details are open again.

I don't know if it has been mentioned it anywhere else but i've also noticed
that every so often Windows mail resets the toolbars, e.g views bar and
search bar reappear after being turned off

Re: Mail Detalis
I haven't experience any of the problems you are having with the Details,
or the toolbars.

The only two suggestions I have:
1. Do a trial uninstall of your antivirus program, to see if it makes a difference.
or
2. Upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

Re: Mail Detalis
If Windows Live Mail is behaving properly for you (compared to
Windows Mail), then consider adding your non-work accounts
to it and just retiring Windows Mail. WLM creates a separate set
of folders for each account, so your work and non-work emails won't
get mingled.

I can't duplicate that problem.
If it bothers you enough, upgrade to Windows Live Mail:
