If you want to import old mail from Outlook to Windows Mail on another
machine, you have two choices: 1. Install Outlook on your new Vista
machine also, preferably version 2003 or later. Versions 2000 and 2002
wil also run under Vista, but with problems. Outlook provides the MAPI
function Windows Mail needs in order to be able to undersrand the .pst
files Outlook stores its messages in. Outlook is available in some, but not
all,
versions of Microsoft Office:

2. First, import the .pst file into Outlook Express on a machine that has
both
Outlook and Outlook Express installed. Then import the messages from
Outlook Express to Windows Mail:

Copy the files to an otherwise empty directory on the hard drive of your
new computer. A directory you create under your Documents directory
is a good choice. Then make sure the file copies are read-write instead
of readonly before you tell Windows Mail to import the whole directory
containing them.
