Sending Error, with correct settings?

Hello,

I'm trying to set up my IMAP e-mail with Microsoft Outlook 2007 on my
laptop which runs Vista Home Prem. 32bit. I have it setup on my desktop
which is running Outlook 2003 which runs Windows XP Home Ed.

The error is 0x800CCC7D Your serer does not support the connection
encryption you have specified. But i know it does. i have the outgoing
server port the same '587' and the same outgoing mail server (SMTP) I
know they are the same. They are both set to use SSL encryption.

I can't figure out why my laptop can't send messages from this mail
account, but my desktop can. The laptop does get the messages, it can't
send them. They are both running the same antivirus Norton Protection
Center.

If you have any ideas i'm all ears. Once Microsoft Visual C# Express
Ed. finishes downloading and installing I'm going to try a restart, but
i don't see why that would change anything, since i've closed and opened
Outlook hundreds of times.

If you need anymore information please ask.

You have posted to a newsgroup that is dedicated to support
for the Windows Mail program only. Outlook issues are best
handled in the Outlook newsgroup where the Outlook experts
hang out: microsoft.public.outlook.general .

Re: Sending Error, with correct settings?

I posted there, but I found my own answer.

If anyone has the same problem as me and stumbles across this newsgroup
and find this thread I figure they might as well get an answer.

All i had to do was change the encryption type from SSL to TLS. I kept
the outgoing port the same.

Re: Sending Error, with correct settings?
Yes. I see you found the solution.
Outlook's mail settings are arranged differently than in
Microsoft's free email programs, so responders tend to
specialize in one or the other, not both.
