IMAP Messages Permanently Deleted
When I delete messages in my IMAP account they are immediately, permanently
deleted. Not marked for purging, not moved to the Deleted Items folder. It
doesn't matter if I have the advanced option to move deleted items to the
Deleted Items folder or not. Messages in local folders properly move to
Deleted Items folder when deleted.

RE: IMAP Messages Permanently Deleted
I did some more testing and found that if the advanced option to move deleted
items to the Deleted Items folder is not checked then deleted messages are
marked for purging in my online IMAP client, but they disappear in Windows
Mail. Again, if the options is checked the messages are permanently deleted,
not moved to the Deleted Items folder.

Re: IMAP Messages Permanently Deleted
After scratching my head for a while the best I can do is to classify this
as a bug.

Re: IMAP Messages Permanently Deleted
I should have posted this earlier. After I restarted my computer (I hadn't
after setting up the account) the problem was solved, for the most part.
Windows Mail would move deleted items to another folder, but I had changed
the name of the Deleted Items folder to Trash to match the name my web IMAP
client used and Windows Mail had intermittent problems recognizing the folder
and updating its contents. I've since stopped using Windows Mail.

Re: IMAP Messages Permanently Deleted
When I deleted the messages they disappeared from Windows Mail even though
the Help file says that they should appear with a strike thru and will only
be deleted when they are purged.

I used my browser to look at the IMAP folders on the server and the messages
were still there.

Back in Windows Mail, even though the deleted messages were not showing any
more, I used the Purge function. When I checked back in the browser the
messages now were gone from the IMAP folder on the server.

So it looks like everything works except that Windows Mail is not showing
the deleted messages.
