Re: Error message
Which antivirus are you running? Some of them can cause this problem.

Re: Error message

Hi -- I have gotten the same error message since installing Norton Internet
Security. I didn't have the problem before Norton installation. How can I fix
it?

Re: Error message
Uninstall Norton. It is not compatible with Windows Mail.
Follow up with their debris removal tool:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support...05033108162039

Replace it with a more compatible antivirus. Acceptable free ones are:
AVG free edition:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff
or
Avast free edition:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

With either of those, during the install phase you must select custom
install, and then deselect the email scanning option.

Alternatively you can upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which appears to
be more resistant to corruption from aggressive antivirus programs.

Re: Error message
Thanks for the ideas. Actually I was able to manage the Norton firewall to
permit Windows Mail access. Hopefully everything will keep working.

Re: Error message
Personally, I would not put up with a firewall that needed that type of
hands-on baby-sitting. Windows Firewall works 100% hands off.

You will probably experience other Windows Mail problems if you
keep Norton.
