Re: Can send but can't receive email on Windows vista email
Looks like you're having problems getting your quoting of previous
messages to come out right. It's making parts of the quotes look
like they came from the wrong person.
If you used the standard unstall of avast!, uninstall it, them do a custom
install where you tell it to leave out the part that scans email.
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
Did you ever have a Norton or McAfee antivirus program on that
computer, even a trial version? Their uninstall programs often fail to
remove the parts of these programs that cause problems in Windows
Mail.
Also, see if this helps:

When the connection to the server crosses over from one internet provider's
equipment to another's before it reaches the server, you usually have to
use some connection method that uses some port other than port 25, such
as webmail. Some, but not all, email providers offer some connection
method that uses some other port, but can still use Windows Mail. You
might want to start by asking bluewin.ch if their outgoing mail server
allows
you to send outgoing mail through some other port, and if so, where to find
their instructions for switching to the other port. Just trying all the
ports is
a very slow way to find out, since there are about 65,000 ports available
and it's unlikely that more than a few of then will accept outgoing mail.
If they don't offer such connections, you'll need to set up a hybrid email
account where you use a return address and an incoming mail server from
one email provider, but an outgoing mail server from a different email
provider. If you need instructions for that, ask and someone else in this
newsgroup can answer you.

Re: Can send but can't receive email on Windows vista email
Trend Micro's PC-Cillin is one of the three antivirus products that often
cause problems with Windows Mail. I suggest that, as a test, you uninstall
it, reboot, then try Windows Mail again. If no improvement, you can always
reinstall it.
Your other option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which is less prone
to corruption from antivirus programs.
