Vista- Office 2007 and Microsoft Office Outlook
I have ALL of the above...I NORMALLY use Outlook Express for my email and it
is synched as WIN MAIL which is what I have been using for over a yr..

Just downloaded Office 2007 and up pops Mircosoft Office Outlook and it
wants to be my MAIL program..I HATE this as it has messed up all photos that
I am trying to send etc and I want to JUST USE OUTLOOK EXPRESS/WIN MAIL as
my mail programs...

HOW to do I get rid of Mico.Office Outlook and go back to using WIN
MAIL/Outlook Express and STILL be able to used OFFICE 2007 as I need Office

You can't have Outlook Express on Vista.

To uninstall Outlook go to Control Panel | Uninstall a program and choose
Office. It will five you a dialog. Uncheck Outlook or choose Not Available
for Outlook depending on what it offers.

You have a few options, go to control panel>default programs> and remove all
defaults from MS Outlook, and set WM so that it has all its defaults.

Remove MS Outlook from the MS Office installation, control panel>programs
etc>select office and then Change.

Re: Vista- Office 2007 and Microsoft Office Outlook
Uninstalling Outlook will not solve that problem, and is also unnecessary.
Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on Windows
Mail. If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

Re: Vista- Office 2007 and Microsoft Office Outlook
Which suggestions have you tried so far?
Did you uninstall Outlook?
Did you use Default Programs to reset Windows Mail as the default
for all protocols?

Re: Vista- Office 2007 and Microsoft Office Outlook
Open Outlook/Tools/Options/Other
- uncheck the item to make it the default client
- close Outlook
- uninstall Outlook
- use the Windows available options(IE, Windows) and/or the preferred email client to set the default email client.

If you have Microsoft Update set to download and install automatically, and Outlook is still installed...repeat the above after
each and every an Outlook Junk Mail filter update or until you uninstall Outlook or change your mind to use Outlook.(there is no
way around an Outlook update reclaiming the default setting).

I'm in the other boat..I use WLM for Hotmail accounts, but Outlook(OL) is my preferred email client for Pop3 personal and business
use. I prefer it's superior capability for email, calender, tasks, notes, reminders, etc and quite comfortable with it remaining
the default client.

Re: Vista- Office 2007 and Microsoft Office Outlook
Winston-

this is what I ended up doing:

Remove an Outlook e-mail profile
An e-mail profile is made up of e-mail accounts, data files, and information
about where your e-mail is stored. If you are unfamiliar with e-mail
profiles, see overview of Outlook e-mail profiles.

In Microsoft Windows, click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
Do one of the following:
Windows Vista Click User Accounts, and then click Mail.
Note In Classic view, double-click Mail.

Microsoft Windows XP Click User Accounts, and then click Mail.
Note In Classic view, double-click Mail.

The Mail icon won't appear unless you have Outlook installed and have run
the program at least once.

The Mail Setup dialog box opens.

Click Show Profiles.
Click the e-mail profile that you want to remove, and then click Remove.
Note Removing an e-mail profile does not remove your Outlook data files,
so no data is lost.

The Microsoft Office Outlook ICON is still on the start up list...so how do
I get rid of that?

I am hoping that the items that Office gave me delete OFFICE OUTLOOK as my
email program......but I would feel really better if I did not have to see
the OFFICE OUTLOOK ICON pop up as I get the feeling that it is still there...

Thanks

You'd already have gotten rid of Outlook if you'd read the replies to your
posts.

1. Run Office setup in Change mode and select "Add or remove Features; click
"Next"
2. Click Microsoft Office and select "Not Available" from the list of
choices.
3. OK your way out - Outlook will be uninstalled leaving the rest of Office
intact.
