Go to tools>accounts>select your account>properties>server tab, and ensure
the following is entered in the relevant spaces:
Mail Settings
SMTP(outgoing): mail.aapt.net.au
POP3(incoming): mail.aapt.net.au

Re: Can't send or receive email
In the future, do not attempt to hand-type the error message,
since that almost always introduces typos which confuse the
troubleshooting effort. Instead, right-click on it, copy, then paste
it into a reply here.

Re: Can't send or receive email
Does your connection to that server cross over from one internet provider's
equipment to another's before it reaches the server? If so, such
connections
to port 25 are often blocked to cause problems for spammers, and you need
to ask virginbroadband.com.au if their outgoing mail server allows you to
send mail through any other port, and if so where to find instructions for
switching to the other port. Just trying all the ports is a very slow way
to find
out, since there are about 65,000 ports available and it's unlikely that
more
than a few of them will accept outgoing mail.
See if these offer any help:
http://www.virginbroadband.com.au/fa...r-q-and-a.aspx
http://www.virginbroadband.com.au/su...ome/email.aspx
You didn't include an error message for receiving, so if you get one, right
click on it and include it in your next message.
Also, since interference from antivirus programs causes many of the problems
in Windows Mail if you need more help, tell us what if any antivirus
programs
you have and whether you have ever had a Norton or McAfee antivirus
program installed on that machine.

Re: Can't send or receive email
Is Virginbroadband your home ISP, and if so, were you sending from
home when you got that error message?
