Windows Mail forgetting login information
No idea what caused this, it was working fine, I closed and opened it, it
suddenly wanted username/password for both accounts.

Repeatedly entering it via the popup or the accounts window, checking and
unchecking the remember password button, using ok button or apply button,
nothing seems to help. I can just leave it running obviously, but if I close
and reopen it, or restart my machine, I have to type them in again, which is
a pain.

Any suggestions?

Re: Windows Mail forgetting login information
Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not compatible
with Windows Mail.

Kapersky, though not active (ie, I'll run it and scan occasionally, but not
resident or running on boot)

Nothing in that Tutorial page had anything about the issue that I could see

Joe, I guess you found something there to help Veren, but I can't. What
heading was it under?

Re: Windows Mail forgetting login information
It is possible that your mail account information has become corrupted.
Delete that mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate the
account from scratch.

If that does not fix the problem, uninstall Kaspersky, reboot, and try
Windows Mail again.

If all else fails, you can always upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which
seems to be less troublesome: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Re: Windows Mail forgetting login information
I posted this in another thread...I have the same problem...

"I doubt this problem has anything to do with any antivirus programs.

I have the same problem and I don't have any anti virus programs installed
yet on my laptop.

The problem is that Windows Mail fails to remember my username and password.
I've tried to resolve this two ways:

1) by selecting "Remember my credituals" when the Windows Security appears
and prompts me for my username and password. Next time I run Windows Mail
again, it will prompt me for the same information again. It's as if Windows
Mail never remembered my Username and Password in the first place. Once I
enter the Username and Password the program works fine. It's just annoying
because I like opening a progran and not having to log in at all. Windows
Mail apparently offers this feature but it's not working for me. And
apparently it doesn't work for lots of other users after reading many threads
is this forum. If you don't believe me, do a search under "username,
password, remember creditituals". There's lot's of threads on this problem.

2) under the Tools/Account/Properties/Servers tab I select "Remember
Password", then hit Apply, and then exit. Surprisingly if I were to check
this tab again, I will find the Password field blank. That doesn't make
sense. Who erased it? It didn't stick apparently?

This is a brand new laptop I got from Dell with Vista Home installed. It's
got about only 1 hour's time usage on it. I opted not to installed any
antivirus programs when I started. The only program I have installed was
Mozilla Firefox. Nothing else.

I called Dell and after much discussion their answer was "Windows Mail
program has an error in it which doesn't remember usernames or passwords."
That's hard for me to swallow seeing that there specifically is a check box
which says "Remember Credituals". Essentially they're blaming it on a glitch
in the software?

Help?? I'm about to give up and install Windows Live Mail like somebody
else recommended. "

Posting the same message in more than one thread seldom gets you any more
help, or gets it any faster.
