I know this is probably an insane question, however, I am using WM with some
success and for my own reasons. Are there any thoughts as to why use WM over
your server email. Are there really any specific things WM can do rather than
say Comcast? Just curious.

Windows Mail is an email CLIENT - Comcast is an Email PROVIDER - the two are
COMPLETELY different.
You can have an email PROVIDER without an email client, as in web-based
email such as GMail or Hotmail, but you cannot use an email CLIENT without
an email PROVIDER.

Thank you. I do understand that. I guess I am thinking more about
application. In setting up WM, I have encountered error messages and such
and so I was curious if WM offers anything that Comcast alone doesn't. Does
that make sense? I am just weighing some options. Including WLM.

Windows Mail offers the option to set up killfiles containing message
rules to delete any messages from email addresses you never want
to see messages from again. Webmail sites each tend to have their
own programs, so it's difficult to predict whether a webmail site you
haven't tried offers this, but I suspect that many of them don't offer
this feature.

Webmail is not downloaded to your computer.
If the webmail server is down, or you move to a location not served
by Comcast, you would not be able to access any saved mail or
be able to review sent messages.
