Why in Microsoft Communities don't show things like other newsgroups?
Greetings,
Why, in Windows Mail newsgroup, 'Microsoft Communities', (at the bottom of the screen/window) does not show the total number of
message and the number of unread messages plus "Working Online"?
It does show,'Downloading/Refreshing Metedata...' but then when it finishes and refreshes, most (not all) groups, all messages are
gone.
Any other newsgroup show this.

I do not know what causes the problem, but it is widely reported.
I find that if I wait until the screen flashes a number of times, (coincides
with the number of news accounts that I have setup?), I do a Sync All then
go to the groups and the missing data is in the task bar.
Regarding missing messages?
Ensure that you do not have Hide Read messages enabled in the news server,
view>current view.

Common problem.
Sometimes closing it and reopening it fixes the problem.
It was reported during beta testing but wasn't fixed.
Very annoying, isn't it?

Kirk,
Along with the advice you received,
Tools|Options|General: try unchecking "Use newsgroup rating features"
Windows Mail now shows xxx message(s), xxx unread for me.
With ratings turned on, I got the same meta refresh. As Frank mentioned,
opening and closing Windows Mail sometimes worked, but turning off the
rating feature seems to have solved it.
Laters,
Dick

Did not know that. I guess I'll do some experimenting.
