We often need to see complete error messages to offer much help, even if
there are more than one of them.
You might check your settings against Sympatico's instructions, though:

These instructions were written for Outlook Express, but should also
work under Windows Mail as long as they don't call for the HTTP
protocol.
If that doesn't help, what if any antivirus programs do you have?
