when ssetting up windows email on the smtp do you type in the hole email
address for were you are sending the email from

No. The SMTP server is the server name from your ISP.

Looks like you are connecting from an AT&T (formerly SBC) DSL service.
Follow your ISP's directions for setting up an email account:
http://helpme.att.net/article.php?item=10918

Those directions are for Outlook Express, but they will work fine for Windows Mail.
