Well I was reading through these forums trying to find a way to fix the
mailto: causing an error about the default mail program not being
installed correctly and found the answer -

> Click Set program access and computer defaults

Now this also fixed my problem with the send/receive button in windows
mail not working!
i also think I know the cause of the problem on my end and figured i
would share this incase anyone else does this, then encounters the
problem.
I installed office along with Outlook - I then uninstalled Outlook and
it caused these problems. For some reason after uninstalling Outlook it
never gives the associations back to Windows Mail. I know of 2 other
people that had this problem and it happened by doing the same thing!
I used Office 2007 and so did they, so I do not know if it is the same
on previous versions or not. I have the previous version on a XP
machine and figured it would be different than Vista.
I hope this helps some people and I thank Ramesh for the answer I have
been looking for!!!
Mike
If someone has some pull with MS you might want to see if this is an
actual bug in Office and Vista so they can pay me 1 million dollars for
finding it

LOL It would be nice to get it fixed though!
