Turn on/off Windows Mail?

Hi -

Just wanted to find out if I can turn off and on Windows Mail whenever I
want or if it's running as long as I'm online with my PC?

Can someone please help me with some info if it's possible to create filters
within an account, f.e. to filter mails from a specific mailing list into
their own sub-folder.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

You can open and close WinMail to suit you.

Thank you very much for your reply, Steve. Didn't know that Windows has a new
name (i.e. "rules") for something like filters. That was very helpful!

But being new to Windows Mail I'd like to know WHERE/HOW you turn on or off
the program? Any hints would be appreciated very much!

There should be a shortcut for it on the Programs menu. If not, go to
Control Panel | Default Programs and set WinMail default.
