Pressing Save in an Open Windows Mail Attachment
I recently have been working on a microsoft word document.

I opened it as an attachment from an e-mail without Save As... to another
location.

While working on the document, I have pressed "save" many times, with
apparent success in Word.

However, after closing the document, no saved changes are reflected in my
windows mail attachment

Is there a location where my "save" button may have saved?

Re: Pressing Save in an Open Windows Mail Attachment
You cannot do this with WinMail. You will lose all your changes. You must
first save the attachment and then open it in Word and then make the
changes.

A Fix
I realize that it must be much too late to retrieve the file from a year and a half ago, but I've had the same thing happen to me a couple of times now in Windows Mail, and I'm sure other Vista users are trying to figure it out. Eventually, after searching through help forums like this one, I figured out where the file was. I thought I'd start a blog and write out a full description of where Vista puts your attachment when you've saved it without also doing the "save as" step. Hopefully it will save people time and grief. The blog's at Figuring Out Windows Vista
