You obviously know 1000% more than I and still ran into obstacles. If the
main reason is lack of familiarity with Vista, it may be worth it if I just
try to navigate and familiarize myself with Vista first before I do anything
else. I could never do what you did. I don't even understand what you just
said you did! I think I will take my time. This old Acer seems to be holding
on. I took a screenshot of all my programs and I know where I downloaded them
from, so if this died tomorow, I still would be okat because of the backups I
have done. BUT I am glad you and others are here to help or answer questions
along the way.

My step-son said the same thing ....that I could use the network. I don't
know anything about the network I have except that I have it and it enables
me to take a laptop wirelessly into another room. So I opted for the cable.
You don't know...It would take me 1-2 hours or more to try to figure out how
to use the network to do this. If I am being overly concerned, and it really
is that easy, then I really would lopve to return the cable. It is still in
its case. Is there somewhere I could locate step-by step instructions? Thanks.

Hi Sahara,

It's been a while. As I have said, I did all this manually and haven't had
experience with ETW, but only hear success. If you have problems, ask away.
Someone should help. Actually, you should bring the question up in the
microsoft.public.windows.vista.installation_setup
group.

A home network (like the one you have) allows you to transfer
files from one computer to another.

Another option is to use external storage, such as a USB
flash drive.
