Applets and Windows (Vista) Mail
OK, this is only the 3rd time I've posted this, so hopefully, 3rd time is a
charm.
I use OE script type stationery (Windows mail is supposed to be an
'enhanced' Outlook Express).
Whenever an Incoming mail has an applet, Windows Mail Crashes. I'm NOT the
only one with this problem.
There is supposed to be a fix somewhere out there.

Could some kind soul please point me in the right direction?
THANKS!
Claire

Have you looked at the suggestions you find when you search for "applet" in
the Windows Mail HELP.

Re: Applets and Windows (Vista) Mail
Claire, if you have Sun JRE only installed, applet stationeries made as a
normal stationery except including a web-loading applet will not work in a
Windows Mail message or in an OE message for that matter. They will work
if you have MS JVM installed. Support for MS JVM ended on Dec 31, 2007
and I would NOT install it. http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/java I've had
reports from several people with Windows Mail saying it crashes whenever a
stationery is opened containing an applet.

Applets should work fine for you in IE either from the web or from your hard
drive with Sun JRE only installed. If you open the attached in OE, the
applet should work even with Sun JRE only installed because it's actually an
applet webpage in an iframe in the mail message. In OE it will look like the
applet stationeries that you're used to seeing. If you open the attached in
Windows Mail, you will only see an open button and when you click it, the
applet webpage will open in IE. That's something that works different in
Windows Mail than it does in OE. I wouldn't say that Windows Mail is an
enhanced OE. They work much the same except for the applets plus the fact
that Windows Mail has some annoying bugs that OE doesn't suffer from.
