Some of us have set it to tell us about new updates, and let us decide
if we want to install them, instead of just installing all of them at once.

Did you import the .wab file from your old computer, which contains
the contacts if your old email program was Outlook Express?

Windows Mail comes with the default language partly set to English, but
not enough to work. To correct this, click on Tools, then Options, then
Spelling, then the triangle to the right of English, then some other
language,
then Apply, then the triangle again, then English, then Apply again, then
OK.
Windows Mail won't connect to Hotmail. You may want to download and
install Windows Live Mail, which will:

Are you running on a computer where you haven't had XP before? If so,
there's likely to be a problem finding all the drivers you need to make it
use its newer hardware under XP.
