Windows Mail lists messages that don't exist
Windows Mail (Vista) contains six messages in the Junk E-mail folder that are
not really there. Looking in the Local Folders > Junk E-mail folder, there
is a file called winmail.fol and one email message that is not listed by
Windows Mail.

How can I fix this problem?

Re: Windows Mail lists messages that don't exist
Use this Microsoft fix:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090

Although it only mentions "Outbox", in fact it works with all folders.

Re: Windows Mail lists messages that don't exist
When I try to install it, I get a message saying the update doesn't apply to
my system. Any other suggestions?

Re: Windows Mail lists messages that don't exist
Have you tried both the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version? One of them
should refuse to install, depending on which version of Vista you have.

Re: Windows Mail lists messages that don't exist
Assuming you didn't try to install the 64-bit version of that fix on a 32-bit
Vista system (or vice versa), it sounds like you have a different problem
than what that fix was designed to cover.

In case of intractable Windows Mail problems, I always advise people to
upgrade to the newer (and better) email program:
