Email in Outbox cannot be deleted, preventing sending other emails

After a message was sent successfully, the same message appeared in Outbox.
Now all messages I want to send are put in the Outbox. They fail to be sent
from there when I click the Send button. When I try to delete the first
message that caused this problem I first get an unknown error box. Then the
delete box appears but it then freezes.

What antivirus programs do you have, if any? Some of them cause assorted
problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

Mail not running:

Although it's labelled as for stuck mail in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or
the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. Certain common
antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton or McAfee,
or a recent one from Trend, tend to cause such problems, although
seldom immediately, so if you have such a program, remember where
to find the fix - you are likely to need it again.
