Instead of clicking on the paperclip, try this: Close the attachment file
in
all other programs. In Windows Mail, start a new message. In the new
message window, click on Insert, then File Attachment, then find the file.

Re: Window Mail Issues
What if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of them cause various
problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

Re: Window Mail Issues
McAfee is one of those for which most versions cause assorted problems
in Windows Mail. To stop it from causing new problems, you need to
uninstall it - not just disable it. You then need to run this cleanup
program:
<http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=107083&lc=4105&partner=McAfee& type=TS&ia=1>
Sometimes you even have to remove your email account under Windows
Mail, and then create it again.
If this gets your mail working again, you may then want to download and
install a replacement antivirus program. I recommend either avast! or
AVG for home use, either one with a custom install that tells it to leave
out the part that scans email, or NOD32 for business use.

Re: Window Mail Issues
so the 2 years I paid for isa waste. I have to remove the whole thing and not
use it at all???
I am begining to hatethis Vista enviroment. I should of got the MacI wanted
to begin with. I can't runany of my software on this computer and now this.
What a waste.
I think Microsoft is getting a kick back form all these software companies
just to create these issues.
I will not remove Macafeeto get this to work I will now go back to my old
desk top to use mail.

Re: Window Mail Issues
Some of the antivirus companies, such as Norton, McAfee, and Trend,
want to get more money by keeping the latest features even more than
they want to make those features work properly.

Re: Window Mail Issues
Your choice.
Which is less trouble: Replace your antivirus with one of the compatible
free ones, or use only your old desktop for email?

Re: Window Mail Issues
Why is it not a option to reinstall the Windows Mail software? When I
contacted Gateway thwy said I had to do a full system restore. If I have had
problems in the past with other software at work the IT reinstalled the
software.
Can this be done with Windows Mail??
Is there somewhere on Microfsofts website to do this since I do not have the
software. It was preloaded on my laptop.
