Re: Outlook .pst file imported to Vista Mail
You can't import a .pst file without Outlook being installed on the Vista
computer.
You could download and install the Office 2007 trial and do this.
Or, find someone with Outlook on their computer, and export to Outlook
Express .dbx and .wab files.
OE files can be imported into WM/WLM.

Re: Outlook .pst file imported to Vista Mail
There seems to be lots of steps that are missing here.
I do have Outlook installed on Vista, but I don't see any facility to export
to Outlook Express .dbx and .wab files.
There is .csv and dbf but they don't work.
Besides, one pays a lot of money for Vista only to not have an automatic
import system available. - Still Not Happy.

Re: Outlook .pst file imported to Vista Mail
If you have Outlook installed on Vista, you don't need to mess with the OE
..dbx files.
Open Outlook, open the .pst file
In Windows Mail, File - Import - Messages - MS Outlook
I guess MS wants Outlook users to continue to use Outlook....
If you have Outlook (2003 or newer), why don't you use it instead of WM,
unless its for the newsgroups?
That's like leaving the Cadillac in the garage, and driving the Chevette.

Re: Outlook .pst file imported to Vista Mail
NEVER IMPORT A .PST FILE!! Doing so will corrupt your Outlook profile, plus
you lose the following information:
1. Custom Forms
2. Custom Views
3. Connections between contacts and activities
4. Received dates on mail
5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar
6. Journal connections
7. Distribution Lists
Make a copy of your existing .PST file (with Outlook closed), place this
copy in a folder on your Vista PC where it WILL NOT OVERWRITE any existing
..PST files, then re-use it in Outlook by going to 'File|Open|Outlook Data
File'. If you have already imported the file, create a new Outlook profile
(to replace the existing profile that was hosed as a result of the import),
then follow the above.

It works for me.
I didn't have the problems noted in your post
when I imported an Outlook 2007 PST file
into Windows Mail.

Re: Outlook .pst file imported to Vista Mail
When I try to import an Outlook file into WM it says Outlook needs to be set
as the default mailer, how do I do that.
