Unable to send e-mails

I can receive e-mails using Windows Vista Mail but when I attempt to send
them I receive the following message:

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'test', Account: 'Pete', Server:
'smtp.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 Sorry, your
non-local IP address (90.207.33.81) is not allowed to send email via me.',
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC6F

Can anyone help me?

Thay usually means that your connection to the server goes through more
than one internet provider's equipment. Such connections to port 25 are
often blocked to cause trouble for spammers. Can you use the outgoing
email server of the first internet provider on the connection?

Some internet providers allow outgoing mail connections to use other
ports, so you might check if that is allowed for you.

Tiscali will only let you send email via their smtp server if you are using
their network. If bskyb is your actual ISP, use their smtp server to send

Yes, your problem is actually with normal network behaviour and is to be
expected in your situation.

The real problem is that ISP's don't really tell you that this will happen
in your situation, or give you a way around it.

This message means that you are trying to send mail via a Tiscali server,
but you aren't actually connected to Tiscali. You are connected to
sky.com, as the IP address reveals, and so this problem is to be expected.
This is normal behaviour.

Very few ISPs allow their send-mail servers to be used by connections from
other networks. They will block Port 25 connections if the connecting
system is on another network, and your mail will *not* send if you specify
their sending server. You can change to the Sky send mail server, but
you'll have to change back when you reconnect to Tiscali.

Your options include actually connecting to Tiscali, using web mail, using
the Sky send mail server, or removing the problem entirely by using a 3rd
party SMTP server. That last approach will make it possible for you to
send regardless of the network you're connected to.

An easy and free way to get a 3rd party SMTP server is to have someone send
you an invitation for google mail. Then go to the gmail pages and follow
the directions to create the account and set it up as the sendmail server.
Note that the server, port, and SSL settings are different, and pay
attention to the "reply to" setting.

This will then allow you to send from pretty much anywhere in the world.

You are trying to use Tiscali's SMTP server from a Sky.com connection.
That is not allowed. When not connected via Tiscali, you will have to
use one of these four workarounds:

1. Use the SMTP server belonging to your connection (Sky).
2. Send messages via web mail.
3. Ask Tiscali if their SMTP server accepts connections on a port
other than '25'. Typical alternate ports are 587 and 465.
4. Get a Gmail account, and use that for sending. Gmail uses port 465.
