automatically completing e-mail address

In Outlook Express when composing a new message I could type just the
few letters of a persons name and if they were in my contact list the
rest of the address would automatically be filled in. Can I do this in
Vista Mail?

Also, are you SURE I cannot display my contacts in the left panel of my
screen just as I did in Outlook Express? It's a real pain to have to
open the contact list to find an e-mail instead of having it on the
screen at all times.

Not quite the same, but you can have autocompletion using a separate
list of the last 29 addresses you sent messages to. For this, click on
Tools, then Options, then Send. If there if no check mark in the box
before Automatically complete e-mail addresses when composing,
click on this box and then Apply. Click on OK.

So it's too hard to click on Tools, then Select Recipients in the new
message window?

I haven't found any way to do it and doubt that one exists.

Re: automatically completing e-mail address

I checked and the box was already checked...oh, well. And I'm not lazy
I just like to keep the contact list open and where I can see it.

Thanks!

Re: automatically completing e-mail address
You can have your Contacts folder open all the time... even if you don't
have WM open.
It's just a folder.
