windows mail shut down issue
Hi,
Whenever I shut down windows mail I get a 'windows mail will restart' and
then it will restart and I have to shut it down again. This time it will
shut down correctly.
Does anyone know how to resolve this.
Incidentally, anyone that has a stuck mail that will not delete then use the
KB941090 update - it worked for me.
Regards

It sometimes helps to click on Tools, then Options, then Send. If there is
no check mark in the box before Send messages immediately, click on
this box and then Apply. Click on OK.
When it asks if it can compact the mail database, it also helps to let
it do this, but can take a minute or two.

Re: windows mail shut down issue
Thanks for that and I've checked it but that isn't the issue. It started
around 6wks after I started with windows mail.

Re: windows mail shut down issue
Odd problems with Windows Mail are often due to using an
antivirus program that doesn't work well with it. Such problems
are usually slow to show up, though. What if any antivirus
programs are you using?

Re: windows mail shut down issue
Thanks for this and I've checked that. I'm using OneCare. So if that doesn't
work properly then nothing will!

Re: windows mail shut down issue
At least that's not on the list of programs I've heard of causing problems.

RE: windows mail shut down issue
Hi , I am having a similar problem when exiting, where message tells me
Windows Mail has stopped working correctly and shuts down and restarts again.
When I exit again message tells me Windows will notify me if a solution is
available but it never does and I have to click on close program in the error
window to exit. I would be obliged to share any solutions you received.
Regards

Re: windows mail shut down issue
What if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of them cause
assorted problems in Windows Mail occasionally, and for some
leaving email scanning disabled is enough to stop new problems
from appearing.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
