Messages Import error

When I try to import my messages from Outlook into windows mail I get the
following error:

Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client. An error has occured.

Can anybody help me?

Do you have Outlook installed under Vista, where it is also known as the
MAPI client? Windows Mail needs a part of it to be able to import .pst
files. Version 2003 and more recent run well under Vista. Version 2002
runs, but with a few problems.

If you don't have Outlook on your new computer, you can also import
the messages from Outlook to Outlook Express on your old computer,
then import them from Outlook Express to Windows Mail.

Hi,
I also received the MAPI client error when trying to import an Outlook
2003 .pst file from XP into VISTA Windows Mail.

I see the recommended method of importing Outlook messages into Outlook
Express on the old computer and then importing the .dbx files into Vista
Windows Mail. While there are serveral references to the second part, I
don't see much on the first part. I never used Outlook Express on the
computer I used that had Outlook 2003 installed.

I assume OE is there as it's Windows XP, but any importing I would do
would be into a "virgin" Oe installation. So, could someone tell me the
procedure to import Outlook 2003 messages into OE under XP?

I'd appreciate it very much.
