Re: Mail Stuck in Deleted Items
I have tried both the download and uninstalling my norton and I still cannot
get my email to work. When I try to send it comes up unknown error and i
cannot delete the messages in my outbox. I do not want to totally uninstall
my email since I have a lot of data. My software worked fine until the
webpage manager went to gmail for all the email hosting. Is there some
problem between gmail and the windows mail program?

Re: Mail Stuck in Deleted Items
Sorry, I don't understand what "webpage manager went to gmail for
all the email hosting" means.

I use several Gmail accounts with Windows Mail, and they work fine.

You might try upgrading to Windows Live Mail. It will automatically
import all your Windows Mail emails, accounts, folders, rules, settings, etc.

Re: Mail Stuck in Deleted Items
I switched over to windows live and it worked for a few days and now when I
open the email program I am asked for my name and password. It is not
accepted and the following comes up:

Unable to send or receive messages for the pop.gmail.com account. An
incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages,
you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.
Server: 'pop.gmail.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995

Re: Mail Stuck in Deleted Items
Somehow the last part of your error message got cut off.
It should say: "Secure(SSL): Yes"
Make sure it says Yes.

The only other possible cause is your antivirus program. Which
AV are you using?

Re: Mail Stuck in Deleted Items
I downloaded the avg free program from grisoft on your reccomendation. I
notice today it is telling me that the internal virus is out of date. When i
try to update, it says it can't. This is getting ridiculous.

Re: Mail Stuck in Deleted Items
Most people who try AVG have no trouble with it.
I suggest you uninstall AVG, then download and install the free
edition of Avast antivirus:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

With either of those two AVs, during the install phase you must
select custom install, and then deselect the email scanning option.

Re: Mail Stuck in Deleted Items
I did the download that was suggested and it didn't fix the problem. I still
have mail stuck in my deleted folder... last count over 400.

Hi Storm,

Did you install the correct 32 bit or 64 bit version of the update?

Installing the KB941090 update will just fix the problem for now. You
must also stop the cause to prevent it from happening again. Read the
section titled "FIRST" in this tutorial about antivirus and
anti-spyware/adware programs to help prevent this from happening again,
then install the KB941090 Microsoft Update in the section titled
"SECOND" to fix and be able to delete the stuck message from the problem
folder.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
