filed messages on a usb key
I have messages received using outlook 2007 and I they were filed on a usb
card.

I try to import those file and I know that what I had to do with outlook
was the following steps:

file/import/import from another program/ .pst file ect....

With Windows mail, I don't find how I can import from another program .

Can you help !

You have two choices: 1. Install Outlook, preferably version 2003 or
later,
under Vista. Windows Mail needs part of Outlook to help it import .pst
files. A free trial version should run more than long enough for the
transfer. 2. Import the files from Outlook to Outlook Express on your
old computer, then from Outlook Express to Windows Mail:

Some Vista programs don't read from USB devices well, so copy the files
to a disk directory before trying to import them. Some copying methods
make the copies readonly, and Windows Mail expects the files it imports
to be read-write, so check this.

Re: filed messages on a usb key
An Outlook .PST file is a special case, it can only be opened by Outlook.
This means transferring message from outlook to Windows Mail requires one of
two methodologies:

1. Install Outlook on your Vista machine, connect it to your copied .PST
file, then import from it using 'File|Import|Messages|Microsoft Outlook (or
Microsoft Exchange)'. Outlook MUST be installed and functional for this to
work because only Outlook can open the .PST file. Outlook is the "MAPI
client" that the system will complain about not being able to find, should
you attempt this transfer without it's presence.

2. Transfer everything from Outlook to Outlook Express on your older
machine, then transfer from OE to Windows Mail per these instructions:
