encoding question [revised]

Is there a way to get Windows Mail to automatically 'read' emails and
newsgroups messages in the encoding they were originally composed? Thanks
in advance.

Try this: Tools, Options, Read, International Settings, uncheck the
box for "Use default encoding for all incoming messages."

If the message was sent in MIME then WinMail knows what encoding to use. If
the message was sent in Uuencode WinMail has no way to know what encoding
was used.
