Can't download an exe file

I have an exe program that was sent to me by email and I want to open it.
When I try I get the message A problem caused the program to stop working
correctly. Windows will close this program and notify you if a solution is
available. I've had no solution sent to me. I've had this exe program
before and it worked fine but I had to reinstall Vista due to another
computer problem and now I can't load it.

I tried saving the attachment in my documents and tried opening from there,
also tried as administrator.. so far nothing works. Any ideas?

I replied to your identical post under a different thread entitled
"Opening an exe program." Kindly use only one thread per issue.
