Sending eMail with attachments problems

I have been having a problem sending attachments with Windows Mail reliably.
After many months of bothering Comcast, my computer vendor, and anyone else
who will listen, I am turning to this forum (Microsoft won't talk to me
because my copy of Windows is OEM). I am very frustrated by the problem. I
am tired of the Apple people telling me that it is absurd that a computer
cannot send a eMail with a simple attachment in todays world.

Attachment is a power point presentation (*.pps) 2.63 MB

Intel Quad Core computer, Nvidia Graphics card, 2 GM Memory, dual boot with
each operating system on a separate disk drive. ISP Comcast, both computers
connected through a Belkin wireless router (Apple is wireless, PC is wired
ethernet).

eMail ERROR

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'test 51', Account: 'r1jones', Server:
'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

WINDOWS XP Professional, Account r3jones@comcast.net

No virus software
Windows firewall, with Outlook Express in exception list

Fails with same error message

Safe mode with networking Fails with same error message

Apple computer with r3jones@comcast.net account succeeds with same
attachment through the same network

WINDOWS VISTA Home Premium

Clean reinstall of Vista

McAfee virus software uninstalled
Windows firewall, with Windows Mail in exception list

Fails with Windows Mail

Fails with Mozilla Thunderbird

None of this worked
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;813514

Where do I now turn for help?

Click on Tools, then Accounts, then your email account, then Properties,
then Advanced. If there is a check mark in the box before Break apart
messages larger than, click on this box and then Apply. Click on OK
and then Close.

You might check your settings for your comcast email account:

<http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=Emailtop17686&cookieattempt=1>

The instructions were written for Outlook Express but should work under
Windows Mail. I suggest you avoid the One Click Fix.

Robert:

Your suggestions are valid, however, I have already done them. I simply
forgot to list that I had tried unchecking the Break Apart box, and checked
my settings against the Comcast required settings.

Thankx

Re: Sending Attachments
I downloaded the MCPR.exe utility from McAfee to remove their virus scan from
the machine, ran the utility, and rebooted. Then I tried sending a message
with attachment. The message failed with the same message included with this
post.

Thankx for your suggestion
