Missing Local Folder List
Starting two days ago, when I open Vista Windows Mail, my Folder List,
in a narrow column on the left side of the screen, displays only
"Local Folders", "Inbox" (inc.
subfolders) and MS Communities, but doesn't display any other folders
(e.g. "Sent
Items", "Deleted Items", etc). On the right side of the screen, in a
large window, is a list of all the folders in the Local Folder List
(which is what I used to see displayed on the left side of the
screen).

I used to be able to see a list of all the Local Folders ("Sent",
"Deleted", etc.) in the narrow column on the left and the list of
Email messages for the highlighted folder displayed on the right
screen.

The only way I can display these now is to click on the "Local
Folders" listing on the left, which then displays my entire Local
Folder List in the large window to the right. I then have to right-
click or double-click EACH desired folder to list it on the left and
display its Email messages on the right. I must repeat this EVERY
time I open Windows Mail and do that for EACH folder I want displayed
on the left, which is a pain, and not the way it used to be prior to
two days ago.

I know I must have caused this with some keystrokes, but I can't undo
it for the life of me! I've checked everything... I've unchecked and re-
checked each of the boxes in View>Layout, I've deleted my McAfee, I
deleted Avast, then re-installed Avast when there was no difference,
etc., etc. I've tried everything!

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Jim

When you reinstalled avast!, did you use a custom install that told
it to leave out the part that scans email?

No, I didn't, but I'll try that and let you know what happens!

Reinstalled Avast without the OE and Email scans... no difference!

Clicking on the symbol to the right of the second triangle to the right
of Send/Receive should make the folder list disappear or reappear.
Does this help you?

There IS no "symbol to the right of the second triangle to the right

Thanks, but no help!

Thanks, but no help!

I'm out of ideas then. Someone else will have to take over helping you.

Your suggestion regarding, " Clicking on the symbol to the right of the
second triangle to the right of Send/Receive should make the folder list
disappear or reappear."

Worked great for me. Thanks.

Does this help you?

You're welcome.

The suggestion works for me, but I haven't had that problem.
