Typing deletes text.
After I have compiled my email message, I may decide to INSERT a correction
or even a sentence. As I type in each additional letter the following letters
that were already there are deleted. So to get round the problem using the
space bar the following text has to be moved further along the line to create
a long space at the point of insertion. It's extremly frustrating especially
when you happily type away only to look up and see the end of your original
message gone. never happens in any other programme.
Any ideas?

I'm not sure, but I think you can turn that on or off by hitting the
Insert key.

Hi Uncle Mo,

I agree with the other post. It sounds like you pressed the "Insert"
key by mistake. Press it once and it will insert text between lines.
Press it again, and it will delete the text in front of it while typing.
This is normal. It would be nice if it had a indicator light like the
toggle keys Caps, Num, and Scroll Lock so you would know what mode it
was in before deleting things though.

RE: Typing deletes text.
You learn something every day! Thank you Shawn and Robert, it is as you say
by pressing the insert key it activates the text deletion. Can't see the
purpose of that procedure, no doubt some one will know. Happy New Year Folks
