Windows mail won't shut down

Does anyone else have trouble with windows mail not shutting down
properly? It disappears from the screen when I exit, but when I go to
shut off the computer it says something like unable to read instruction
at xx000 and I need to click a screen to exit the program. Also, if I
try to exit mail and restart the mail before shutting off the computer I
have to terminate the process winmail.exe in taskmanager before I can
read my mail again.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
