Windows Mail Setup
I'm trying to set up my windows mail so that it will recieve from my Yahoo!
address. I have typed in the information about the incoming and outgoing
server times successfully, but I've gotten stuck. I keep getting a pop-up
asking me to type my log on to pop.mail.yahoo.com and each time i type in my
username and password I click OK but it just pops up again. It's not saying
my password or username is incorrect but it just won't let me get past this
step. I've tried clicking Cancel, at which point it says

Errors: Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user/password', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

What do I do to get past this?
Please help!

Caitlin

Re: Windows Mail Setup
If you have a free, US-based Yahoo account, it will have web access
only, so it can't be used with Windows Mail. For an extra fee, Yahoo
will upgrade your account to Mail Plus, which enables it for access
by standard POP clients like Windows Mail:

RE: Windows Mail Setup
Hi there, I have My free Yahoo account on Windows Mail. Make sure you have
checked, for both incoming and outgoing, SSL and "My server requires
authentification". The ougoing port should be set to 465 and the incoming
port sould be set to 995. pop.mail.yahoo.com;smtp.mail.yahoo.com. This is how
I have mine set, it should work for you. Hope this was helpful, have a good
day.

Re: Windows Mail Setup
I think you've entered two server names where you should have just one.
They are separated by ';'.

Re: Windows Mail Setup
It looks like you put both server names into one box.

Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Re: Windows Mail Setup
The reason I asked, I wanted to verify that what I have been telling people
is still true: US-based free Yahoo accounts do not have POP access.
Since you are in Canada, you fall under different rules.

Re: Windows Mail Setup
Your settings are all wrong. If you have POP access to Yahoo, use
these setup directions:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...op/pop-08.html

However, if you are based in the US, free Yahoo accounts do not have
POP access.
