When I go to certain websites, click on the contact box, a windows email
opens up, but I am not able to send anything because the email account is
not set up. Don't know anything about POP or anthing else. I only use aol
for email, use internet explorer for web access, anyone able to help?

Here's how to set up Windows Mail to use an AOL account:

you can call aol and ask for assistance in setting it up.

That will allow Windows Mail to handle the chore. However, the OP
doesn't want to use Windows Mail. I don't know if it is possible to set
AOL Mail as the default email. The OP needs to contact AOL for help.
AOL Mail may not be compatible with Vista's default programs mechanism.
