Re: windows mail
Which email method do you want to use for email links in web pages?
If you want to use a POP client like Windows Mail, go to your ISP's
website and look for directions on how to set up an email account.

If you only use Hotmail via the web, you an make it your default
email service:

Re: windows mail
Assuming your Windows Mail is sending and receiving normally,
the only thing that needs fixing is making sure it has all its defaults.
Go to Default Programs, which you can access either from the Start menu
or via the Control Panel, then click the first item: "Set your default programs."
After a few seconds a list of programs comes up. Click on Windows Mail.
If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults" then fix it by
clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

Re: windows mail
Go back to Default Programs, choose "Associate a file type or
protocol...", then scroll all the way down where the protocols
are listed. Make sure the MailTo protocol is assigned to Windows Mail.

The only other cause I can think of is using a default browser
other than IE.
