how to export a group contact from Windows Mail
I am trying to save a single GROUP contact in Vista's Windows mail to a
thumbdrive etc.
I need to export it to another computer running WinXP & Outlook Express. How
do I do that?

BTW I can't seem to export an individual GROUP contact. I end up exporting
the whole Contact list (BUT not the Contact GROUPS).

Re: how to export a group contact from Windows Mail
Since the export function of the Contacts folder ignores groups, it looks
like you'll have to export all your contacts as VCFs into a folder on your
thumb drive, then import selected indivudal VCSs into Outlook Express on
your XP machine, then re-create your group.

Note: When you convert a contact to the vCard format, it will lose any
picture it might have had and some or all of the information in the Family
and Notes tabs.

Anybody out there got a magic bullet for this predicament?

Re: how to export a group contact from Windows Mail
Thks a lot Brian. The Vista Help does not mention that group contacts cannot
be exported. That I think is a failure. It will be a tedious affair if my
Group contains a long list and my total email contact is even a longer list.

My next question will now be: Is there a faster way to export individual
contacts (say 100 names) from my existing total email contacts (say 300names)
so that I cann re-assemble that 100 into a group email in my wab address book
in Outlook express?

Re: how to export a group contact from Windows Mail
DC,

Windows Mail's Export function is an all-or-none operation. We can't select
only certain contacts to export.

I suspect that there are some third-party utilities out there that might
help you, but finding, installing and figuring out how to use them would
probably be more trouble than doing it the long way with the tools you've
already got.

Re: how to export a group contact from Windows Mail
is there a way to export such things as family or notes info?
I have lost sooooo much important info in the export process, not to mention
how many birthdays have been missed because I "assumed" the info had been
transferred to my new Vista computer. Any hope of being able to export that
info?
