Hi RaNae,
This tutorial will show you how to run chkdsk. I used "chkdsk /f" (No
quotes) in Method Two without any problems on the restart.

RE: WinMail.exe-corrupt file
I am having an identical problem with my computer - also a Dell Laptop
running Windows Vista. When I try to launch Windows Mail, I get a string of
error windows.
1. Contacts failed to load
2. Windows Mail could not be started...unable to initialize Windows
Contacts. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full
(0x8004104E)
3.Windows Mail could not be started becasue MSOE.DLL could not be initialized
It then tells me to run chkdsk. When I attempt to run this utility from the
tools tab, it tells me that it can not run check while disk is in use, asks
me to schedule one at startup - but never runs it.
When I attempt to run chkdsk from the file location, a black window pops up
and the check begins to run, finds an error, and then closes.
Help!

Re: WinMail.exe-corrupt file
Brink, I had the same problem as RaNae; I followed your directions about
running chkdsk C:/f, but this yielded a new pop up box when I restarted:
winmail.exe-corrupt file
Exception processing message Oxc0000102 parameters Ox7597023c (the last
number set repreated 3 more times).
Can you help with this?
Thanks

RE: WinMail.exe-corrupt file
I was able to fix this problem by running the repair startup utility that
comes on Dell computers. All the problems were resolved.

RE: WinMail.exe-corrupt file
Katiebyrd, that is reassuring, thanks. Would you please elaborate on the
repair startup utility you mentioned, ie, how do you access it? Thanks,

Re: WinMail.exe-corrupt file
I am still having the same Winmail.exe problem when I open Windows mail.
Running chkdsk c:/f has not solved the problem. Any other ideas?
Thanks

Re: WinMail.exe-corrupt file
The simple solution is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail:
