OUTLOOK EXPRESS TO WINDOWS MAIL
I have been trying for hours now to try and set up my old e mail account
from Outlook Express into Windows mail - I always get the following message
when I try to "send/receive" - I also keep being asked to verify the account
name and password which I know are correct
Account: 'pop.wanadoo.co.uk', Server: 'pop.wanadoo.co.uk', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Invalid login/password pair', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Karen.

Re: OUTLOOK EXPRESS TO WINDOWS MAIL
You might have to check with your ISP on that one. Their mail server is
sending back a message that the username and password are incorrect. Tell
your ISP, specifically, that you're setting up the account in Vista's
Windows Mail and getting that message.
Make sure you're using the username and password for your e-mail account,
which may be different from those for your Internet access.
(And please don't type any more subject lines in uppercase, because IT LOOKS
LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Re: OUTLOOK EXPRESS TO WINDOWS MAIL
If you still have outlook express, go to tools->accounts and export your
settings. Then simply import them into Windows Mail. (The import wizard only
imports your email messages, not your accounts.)

Re: OUTLOOK EXPRESS TO WINDOWS MAIL
Chances are, your antivirus program has corrupted your
email password store. Turn off the email scanning feature
of your antivirus program. Delete the email account,
then recreate it.

Re: OUTLOOK EXPRESS TO WINDOWS MAIL
See if you can telnet to the server and verify that the user name and
password are correct.
See http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_san...pop3telnet.htm

Re: OUTLOOK EXPRESS TO WINDOWS MAIL
After lots of efforts I've managed to import all the outlook messages on my
new windows mail client on vista.
But now when I try to import the "outlook express exported" accounts (I have
many) into windows mail I receive error messages. Why?
Vista is very unfriendly for me at the moment. I can't spend days to restore
my accounts and the whole! :-((((

Re: OUTLOOK EXPRESS TO WINDOWS MAIL
I don't understand what you are doing. See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx and
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4
You can also try the Easy Transfer features. Some say those work, although
I haven't tried them.

Re: OUTLOOK EXPRESS TO WINDOWS MAIL
I was trying to restore all my multiple accounts of outlook express in the
windows mail client without manually entering all the single configurations.
I lost a lot of time reading all guides and helping things at microsoft and
elsewhere, and many more time in trying the easy transfer methods (not so
easy in my opinion) since they didn't work at all!!!
I'm very disappointed with all these problems I encountered switching to
Windows Vista.
Thank you anyway.
